Center Structure

Affiliated association with limited responsibility “Institute of Space Technique and Technology” (hereinafter referred to as AALR “Institute of Space Technique and Technology”) was formed by the order of the National Space Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan No.65/ОД dated 17.08.2009.

AALR “Institute of Space Technique and Technology” was registered on December 23, 2009. The only founder of AALR “Institute of Space Technique and Technology” is Joint-Stock Company “National Center of Space Research and Technology”.

The main research (activity) trends (or Areas of research)

The main activity trends of AALR “Institute of Space Technique and Technology” are: the implementation of research and development activities in the field of space research and technology, the implementation of fundamental, exploratory and applied research in the field of scientific and technological support for the creation of space technique and technology; experimental design work on the development and implementation of mathematical, algorithmic and software, technical, software, technical and information technology, geoinformation systems in the field of activities of the Institute; production of installation, commissioning and maintenance of information systems and radio communication systems, subsystems of the system of high-precision satellite navigation, systems for modeling and managing space complexes and their elements; testing and assessment of the conformity of space technology and its components to the requirements established by technical regulations and standards in the field of space activities; normative, methodological, metrological support of research, design and engineering works, development of technical regulations and standards.

The development of the scientific and technological base for the creation of space technology and technologies is planned to be carried out in the following areas:

• development of mathematical software and technologies for information processing of space systems for scientific purposes, simulation models and experimental models of instruments, equipment, nodes and subsystems of micro- and nanosatellites;

• development of mathematical software for the ground and user segments of high-precision navigation and prototypes of hardware and software systems for monitoring the movement and highly accurate determination of the coordinates of static and dynamic objects.

 

Structure of AALR “Institute of Space Technique and Technologies”:

The structure of Affiliated association with limited responsibility “Institute of Space Technique and Technologies” of Joint-Stock Company “National Center of Space Research and Technology” includes five laboratories:

1. Laboratory of Scientific Space Systems (Laboratory Chief - Candidate of Sciences {Engineering}  Aleksandr S. Inchin)

The direction of research are scientific and methodological support and technologies of data processing for scientific space system (SSS): formation of scientific and applied problems for spacecraft of scientific purposes, definition of the requirements for the onboard scientific equipment for registration on spacecraft of parameters of the Earth’s electromagnetic field, ionospheric plasma, radiation flows and cosmic rays, development of digital models and experimental models of onboard scientific equipment of spacecraft, development of methods and algorithms for processing and analysis of information from the spacecraft for scientific purposes for the detection of ionospheric effects from various terrestrial and space sources, including earthquakes, which is topical for Kazakhstan, a significant part of which is located in seismic zone.

2. Laboratory of Simulation Modelling and Development of Space Systems (Laboratory Chief – Suleymen A. Yelubayev).

The direction of research are the development of mathematical support, software and simulation models of spacecraft control systems for various purposes, development of methods for the orientation of spacecraft on the near-Earth orbits, development of mathematical support and simulation models of spacecraft, creation of experimental models and prototypes of space technique and technologies.

3. Laboratory of Satellite Navigation Technologies (Laboratory Chief – Nurlan B. Boguspayev).

The direction of research is the development of mathematical support, software and hardware for high-accuracy satellite navigation systems for different applications, creation of logistics systems of differential correction, development of software and hardware navigation systems for various industrial problems.

4. Laboratory of Space Information Technologies (Laboratory Chief – Denis I. Yeremin)

The direction of research is the development of scientific-methodical support and software for complex analysis and forecasting of space systems development in the Republic of Kazakhstan, development of scientific-methodical support and software for unified data transmission system based on the mobile space communications and satellite navigation, design work, experimental design work on the creation and implementation of mathematical, algorithmic and software support, software and hardware, technology and information systems,

5. Laboratory of Advanced Development (Laboratory Chief – Nurlan M. Saterov)

The direction of research is development, engineering and implementation of mathematical, algorithmic and software support, software and engineering, technological and information systems, production of installation, commissioning and maintenance of information systems and radio communication systems, subsystems of the system of high-precision satellite navigation.

 

Staff of AALR “Institute of Space Technique and Technology”: total – 87 persons, including 67 researchers, of which are 2 doctors of sciences (including 1 member of National Academy of Science RK), 8 candidates of sciences, 2 PhD, 16 masters (4 of which are studying masters), 27 engineers and technicians.

Basic and applied research of the Institute

 I.    In 2008:

Within the framework of State Budget Program 002 “Applied Scientific Research in the Field of Space Activity” in 2008 were implemented 3 projects:

- “To develop scientific and methodological support and technology of data processing for scientific space system”;

- “To conduct system scientific research of the development of space technique in the Republic of Kazakhstan”;

- “To develop technical regulations and standards, create a fund of regulatory acts on issues of technical regulation in the field of space activity. To develop schemes and regulatory and methodical support to confirm the compliance of space technique objects”.

II.    in 2009-2011:

1) Within the framework of State Budget Program 002 “Applied Scientific Research in the Field of Space Activity” were implemented 5 projects:

- “To develop software and mathematical support for ground and user segment of high-accuracy satellite navigation system”;

- “To develop software and mathematical support and simulation models of spacecraft control systems and their integration into the simulation modelling system of space systems”;

- “To develop scientific and methodological support and technologies for data processing for scientific space system”;

- “To Develop Scientific and Methodological Support and Software for Complex Analysis and Forecasting of Space Technologies Development in the Republic of Kazakhstan”;

- “To develop scientific and methodological support for system of technical regulation in the field of space activity”.

2) Within the framework of basic research “Study of Systems and Objects of Near and Deep Space, Earth Exploration from Space, Development of Scientific Bases of Space Technologies” under the direction “Development of Theoretical Bases of Space Technologies and Materials” performed scientific and research work:

- R&D “To develop methods of high-accuracy determination of spacecraft position using signals of satellite navigation systems”.

III.    in 2012-2014:

1) Within the framework of State Budget Program 002 “Applied Scientific Research in the Field of Space Activity” were implemented 6 projects:

- “To develop the scientific-methodical support and software for unified system of data transmission based on the mobile space communications and satellite navigation”;

- “To develop scientific-methodical and engineering support for creation, testing and operation of purpose designed equipment of scientific-technological spacecraft”;

- “To develop methods and technologies for creation of large-scale 3D models using satellite navigation technologies and laser ranging”.

-“To develop software and simulation model of the system of control of motion and navigation of micro-satellite”;

- “To develop software and simulation model of the star tracker for spacecraft”.

- “To develop scientific and methodological support of technical regulation (evaluation and conformity assessment) in the field of space activity”.

2) By order of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the Budget Program 055 “Scientific and/or Scientific and Technical Activities” 2 scientific and research works are performed:

- under the priority: “Power-engineering”;

on the project: “Development of autonomous power supply subsystems for satellite data transmission systems”;

- under the priority: “Information and Communication Technologies”

on the project: “Development of mathematical support and software to solve the problem of high-accuracy spatial orientation of objects by means of satellite navigation”.

3) under the program of JSC “National Agency for Technological Development” innovation grant for research and development work and (or) risk studies of applied nature” (implementation period: February 2012 – January 2014) under the project “Development of satellite monitoring system for transfer of dangerous cargo”.

 

IV.   In 2015-2017:

1) Within the framework of the State Budget program 008 "Applied Scientific Research in the Field of Space Activity" are being implemented 4 projects:

- "Develop mathematical software for the experimental model of the onboard control system of the nanosatellite";

- "Develop mathematical software and a prototype of a star tracker for spacecraft";

- "Investigation of the characteristics of radiation from terrestrial radioelectronic facilities using low earth orbiting satellites";

- "Development of an experimental model of the radio signal processing module of global navigation satellite systems for use in spacecraft and functional additions".

2) By order of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the Budget program 217 "Development of Science", sub-program 102 "Grant financing of scientific research" 1 scientific and research work being implemented:

- on priority: "Information and telecommunication technologies"

On the project: № 0100 / GF4 "To create a system of electromagnetic measurements for lightning location detection and research of atmosphere-lithosphere relations".

1. Contract for the development of methods of high-accuracy spatial orientation of objects by means of single-frequency navigation receivers, customer – AALR “Institute of Space Research”.

The following experimental models and prototypes of space systems were developed:

In accordance with the target indicators of the Strategic Plan of the Kazcosmos was developed:

- experimental model of inertial subsystem of software and hardware complex for creation of 3D models of large scale terrestrial objects (2012);

- mathematical software for filtration of data of orientation sensors of system of control of motion and navigation of the microsatellite (2012);

- unified data transmission system based on mobile space communications Orbcomm and satellite navigation, which was introduced in LLP “Production Company “Vzlyot-Kazakhstan” for the collection and transmission of data from expenditure counter accounting the consumption of heat, cold and hot water (2012);

- laser range-finding subsystem of the software and hardware complex for creating 3D models of large-scale terrestrial objects (2013);

- experimental models of the main components of system of control of motion and navigation of the microsatellite (inertial executive body - flywheel, magnetic sensor, electromagnetic executive) (2013);

- experimental model of the terminal of the unified data transmission system based on mobile space communications GlobalStar, Inmarsat and satellite navigation (2013);

- prototype of the software and hardware complex for creating 3D models of large-scale terrestrial objects (2014);

- prototype of the satellite terminal of the unified data transmission system based on mobile satellite communications Iridium and satellite navigation (2014);

- experimental model of the scientific equipment of the scientific and technological spacecraft (STSC) (2014).
