Japanese delegation headed by Ambassador of Japan Yasumasa Iijima visited the National Space Centre

On May 16, 2025 the National Space Centre of the Republic of Kazakhstan was officially visited by a Japanese delegation headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Kazakhstan Mr. Yasumasa Iijima.

During the visit, Malik Olzhabekov, Vice Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, gave a presentation on the main space industry projects being implemented in Kazakhstan. He paid special attention to programmes on remote sensing of the Earth, development of satellite systems and creation of infrastructure for production and testing of space equipment.

Marat Dzhanikeev, Chairman of the Board of the National Centre for Space Research and Technologies JSC, also made a report on the Centre’s activities, highlighting its research potential and experience in implementing major national and international projects.

The parties discussed opportunities to expand Kazakh-Japanese cooperation in space technologies, including joint research, educational programmes and exchange of experience between relevant organisations of the two countries.
