NCSRT Article on New Heat-Resistant Materials Published in Leading International Journal
10.06.25

A research article by the scientific team of JSC “National Center for Space Research and Technology” (NCSRT), titled “Polymer-Based Thermal Protective Composites: The Role of Reinforcement and Matrix in Providing Strength and Fire Resistance,” has been published in Polymers (MDPI) — a prestigious international scientific journal ranked in the Q1 quartile according to Scopus and Web of Science metrics.
The publication was authored by both young and experienced researchers of NCSRT: Mohammed Meirbekov, Asem Kuandyk, Mukhammed Sadykov, Meir Nurzhanov, Nurmakhan Yesbolov, Berdiyar Bayserikov, Ilyas Ablakatov, Laura Mustafa, Botagoz Medyanova, Arman Kulbekov, Sunkar Orazbek, and Abusaid Yermekov.
The core focus of the study is the development of new polymer composites capable of withstanding extreme temperatures and fire exposure. NCSRT scientists thoroughly investigated how the choice of reinforcing fibers and polymer matrix affects the strength characteristics and fire resistance of the materials.
Such composites hold high applied value, especially in the aerospace industry, where reliable thermal protection is crucial. Additionally, they have potential applications in construction, transportation, and other industries where materials operate under high-temperature conditions.
Publication in a Q1-tier journal reflects the significant scientific contribution of NCSRT researchers and highlights Kazakhstan’s growing involvement in addressing advanced challenges in global materials science and space technology.
The research was conducted with the support of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan under grant No. AP234038/0223.
