On March 26, 2025, Egizbaeva A. S., a leading research fellow at the National Center for Space Research and Technology, successfully defended her dissertation at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The work was presented as part of the educational program “8D07303 – Cartography” to obtain a PhD degree. The study is devoted to the development of models and forecasting of seasonal changes in river runoff in the Lake Balkhash basin using remote sensing technologies.
Egizbaeva A. S. became one of the first young scientists in Kazakhstan to be awarded a doctorate in cartography, which emphasizes the growing potential and capabilities of Kazakhstani science.
The goal of her research was to improve the methods for modeling and forecasting seasonal changes in river runoff using remote sensing technologies. The use of these modern technologies significantly increases the accuracy of forecasts and contributes to more efficient water resources management, which is especially important in light of global climate change and increasing water shortages.
The results obtained during the work of Egizbaeva A. S. create a significant scientific basis for the study of hydrological processes and efficient water resources management at the country level.
They also open up new opportunities for the application of innovative technologies in scientific and practical activities.
The team of NCSRT congratulates Egizbaeva A. S. on this achievement and wishes her success in her future scientific career!
